Gucci brand story

Gucci brand story – Alessandro Michele, a fashion designer and creative director of Gucci

Gucci brand story – Guccio Gucci founded the fashion house of Gucci in Florence in 1921 (almost 100 years ago). It all started in a hotel where Guccio was working. He was fascinated by the elegant guests and their quality luggage. It sparked in him the desire to create a fashion business.

At first, it was only travel bags, accessories, and footwear that were manufactured by H.J. Cave & Sons but once three of Guccio’s sons joined to operate the company, clothing was introduced in the range of the products and had become of an equal importance with bags and shoes.

Gucci has gained a great awareness thanks to quality things and movie stars who were happy to appear in public wearing the brand.

The essence of Gucci is best expressed in the stories, images, ad campaigns and values the company stands for. It is always good to know where the designers find inspiration, what moves them to create what they create and in what context they see their work. They often define the beauty based on their feelings, sensations, and views.

I am trying to cause a little revolution inside the company—to push another language, a different way to talk about beauty and sexiness, which is an old word. It’s about sensuality now (Alessandro Michele, a fashion designer and creative director of Gucci) ©

Gucci Stories: The Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice

It is interesting that Gucci decides to show their collection telling a Greek legend. They inscribe the collection in an antique tale. It is a beautiful way to show the beautiful work.

We can see the rings when Orpheus and Eurydice exchange them on their wedding day. The hands are something we keep seeing throughout the whole video. Then we see the party and the shoes and the attire of the guests.

The negative character (the snake) who we initially see as a woman and who kills beloved of Orpheus is dressed in red colors that signal danger. After the scene of death, we see a Gucci bag with two hearts.

‘The snake’s’ first appearance was after the wedding party when she was watching a happy couple wearing big sunglasses and black coat with a red collar.

When Orpheus comes to the land of the dead to take Eurydice, he is given one condition – not to look back because in case he does his wife will go back to the dead world forevermore. The music accompanies the story very well. Love and beauty fill the short films.

I’m not interested in the future—it doesn’t exist yet—but I’m really interested in the past and the contemporary (Alessandro Michele, a fashion designer and creative director of Gucci) ©

Gucci Cruise 2018 campaign: Roman Rhapsody

An ad campaign 2018 ‘Gucci Cruise 2018 campaign: Roman Rhapsody’ gives you various perceptions at once. The color palette is very wide. The images are wild in a sense that they look brave and vivid.

There are natural landscapes, people of different age and culture, a black cat. We can see vintage designs and modern ones.

The ad not only gives you a feeling of esthetics but also a spiritual feeling. The music’s rhythm is repetitive; we can see a gesture of meditation, candles.

Some models are wearing Greek wreaths. The result is that fantasy can lead you anywhere but as long as nature is close, your mind will be at peace.

The essence

Speaking of values, in 2017 Bizzari declared that Gucci will no longer use fur. Besides, the company supports girl’s and women’s empowerment and donates money to the United Nations Children’s Fund since 2005.

What is Gucci in the end? It is status. A lot of people dream about having something from this brand with a strong logo. Some people are skeptical about it and they say that you pay exclusively for a brand which is not true.

You pay for a piece of art. One who dares to disagree has never seen the collection and has never known the idea behind it.

In Florence you see a lot of people who stop in front of a Gucci store simply to contemplate or to take pictures of the decorated shop windows that charm and enchant by taste and harmony.

Alessandro Michele is not the only designer. There are 70 designers behind the style Italy can be proud of.

Gucci is more than just a brand. It is aesthetics, imagination, fantasy, mystery, beauty, art, legend, and, beyond any doubt, an authority for thousands of fashion lovers…
